24 November 2020 - Logista is the leading distributor of tobacco related and convenience products and services to retailers throughout Southern Europe. They distribute to approximately 300,000 delivery points within retail networks spanning Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Poland. To ensure compliance with the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) and improve its logistics and delivery processes, Logista has implemented Zetes’ TPD solutions.

For execution of processes in the warehouse, ZetesMedea has been integrated with Logista’s existing third party track and trace system, as both a backup tool and also to facilitate non-automated and smaller warehouses with the logistics and transport processes impacted by TPD. Each event throughout the  warehouse is captured in real-time by ZetesMedea and exchanged with Logista’s track and trace system. These include: the arrival of a product from the manufacturer; aggregation, consolidation and order picking; and the dispatch and delivery of the product and any recalls or modifications.

Additionally for field delivery operations, ZetesChronos has been implemented alongside ZetesMedea. ZetesChronos was selected by Logista as their preferred solution to support the last mile delivery and verification processes within the POS (Point Of Sale). Item level serial numbers are associated with the logistics units and promotional kits prepared by Logista, which are later assigned to stores or destination points. The solution also incorporates Augmented Reality in cameras on handheld devices to help drivers efficiently scan product and carton barcodes to ensure that orders are attributed to the correct delivery, matched via the serial number. This will ensure delivery accuracy, removing the risk of human error as well significantly saving time during the delivery process.

ZetesChronos will provide real-time visibility and traceability of all deliveries, connecting drivers and sharing instant updates on the location and status of both goods and vehicles, helping to guarantee the right delivery, at the right time, every time. The workflow processes it enables will be further standardised throughout Logista’s distribution operations.

Logista selected Zetes for its experience in serialisation and traceability. The new solutions perfectly integrate with the existing architecture of T&T systems and help improve operational efficiency in processes such as last mile delivery, which require an agile, scalable and flexible system that can be implemented quickly.

Simón Ben Hamú, Country Manager Zetes Spain, comments: “We fully understand the challenges and industry changes being faced by companies today. Legislative compliance such as the Tobacco Products Directive is an opportunity for retailers, distributors and manufacturers to enhance visibility throughout the supply chain and optimise their processes to unlock additional efficiencies and cost savings. We trust that our proven experience in implementing similar projects for other companies will bring Logista great advantages and bring a quick return on investment.”
