Closing the Loop on Sustainable Supply Chains White Paper
Supply chains have the ability to positively or negatively affect a company’s sustainability position. There is however a lot of complexity, and a number of contributing themes, that affect this position. This paper explores the key themes.
This white paper discusses the sustainability side of supply chains and if and how supply chains can have a postive effect on a companies sustainability efforts.
Sustainability is not just a trend anymore, but a subject that every company needs to address to stay competitive. Every business should contribute to the United Nations sustainability vision and it has become a new variable to evaluate companies and it is influencing customers’ decisions. In comparison to the past, manufacturers today are directly engaging with customers and can influence brand awareness positively through their sustainability efforts.
Today’s markets are volatile and require agile and resilient supply chains in order to deal with unforeseen events. The increased unpredictability and complexity of those events is problematic for supply chains and as seen with Covid-19, it has affected various parts of manufacturing, supply and demand predictability and sourcing possibilities. Supply chains of the future need to be able to take those unpredictable events into consideration and adapt their supply chain management approaches accordingly to overcome those challenges.
